WELCOME


Being here means that you wish to take part in the 2020 Coronavirus Essay Competition. The ongoing affliction of humanity by the Coronavirus is a very sad event, that is devastating the world. The impact is unfolding by the hour, as we see it on television and through the social media. Most of the world is locked down presently, with no respite in sight.

In Nigeria, we have conditions that pre-exist the onset of the virus from Wuhan, China. Our society has so many problems. These problems affect everyone: young and old, male and female. The effect on the everyone has yet to be looked out. The pains and joys of being a Nigeria is yet to be documented. The year 2020 is especially a milestone. By October 1, we would have clocked 60 years of independence.

It is time we look at ourselves. This period of being at home is a very golden opportunity to think about us: as individuals, families and as a society. We need to flash back 60 years to find out what has been. We need to look ahead; applying any lessons of life and living, with hope and faith. The youths of Nigeria currently in school: senior secondary and at tertiary educational institutions are hereby afforded a voice. A platform is hereby created for a set of thoughtful and critical writings to emerge. Your essays will characterize and document the way we are. Surprise may await.
